The question of whether or not the new Underworld film will be a reboot or sequel has been answered along with the question of who will be taking the lead.

THR reports that Underworld: Awakening and Divergent star Theo James will reprise his role as vampire David in the new film, which is described as “not a reboot but rather an expansion of the existing universe.”

So, a sequel then. Just say sequel.

The site also notes that there will be two lead female characters, one of which will presumably be the much-rumoured daughter of Kate Beckinale’s Selene and Scott Speedman’s David.

How does this new announcement make you feel about returning to Underworld? Are we happy now that we know that it’s definitely a sequel? Sorry, expanded universe film. Presumably the reason why they’ve been coy about the whole reboot thing is because they want it to be a bit of a fresh start and not just Underworld 5.
