Michael Bay has reportedly written the script for Transformers 2, the sequel to 2007’s summer blockbuster, despite restrictions on writing during the recent strikes that have paralysed Hollywood.

Although not a member of the Writers’ Guild Of America, Michael Bay has supported the strike over residuals and contract negotiations, and appeared unapologetic when questioned on this point. “We had to, because I want to make my [shooting] date,”

Bay is quoted as reportedly saying. “I’m not going to let the strike take me down.” In terms of the actual progress he’d made, however, he was a little more forthcoming. “We’ve got our characters all designed. I always write all my scripts, my movies, anyway, so at least I’ve got something to give the writers. It’s like a template. We have a really good outline so I worked on that.”
