In a recent interview with Reed Tucker of The New York Post, producer Todd Black disclosed some interesting tidbits about the fourth Spider-Man film and hinted that the villain in the super sequel could well be The Lizard.
Spider-Man 4 is set to be the first of the record-breaking series that Black is attached to but the producer has been far from quiet on the most hotly debated subject of the fourth movie, that of the villain, “We’re just coming up with who the villain’s going to be now. We’ll be shooting in New York again. Trust me, people will appreciate who we pick, because it’ll be a big part of New York.” Though far from specific, there are few Spidey villains who fit this bill as well as The Lizard, and given that Dr Curt Connors has featured prominently in the series so far, and that director Sam Raimi has been very open about his love of Peter Parker’s classic rogues, it seems very likely that the scaled-one will feature.
In the interview, Black also confirmed that Kirsten Dunst will return as love interest Mary Jane, although the film will almost certainly not feature a wedding. Happily, the producer also denied that Morbius will appear.
