Speaking to Latino Review, Abraham said: “It’s going to be taking place in the same time frame… these are the events leading up to the 1982 film.”

Whether it will reveal the nature of the shape-shifting alien’s origins or not remains unknown, but a prequel is certainly more appealing than an out-and-out remake. Abraham has his work cut out for him, though, if he is to come close to Carpenter’s original.
