So, it looks like New Line couldn’t let Freddy stay dead.
The Tracking Board reports that Wes Craven’s classic A Nightmare On Elm Street is getting another remake. It’s already been remade, of course, in 2010 by Samuel Bayer with Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger and Rooney Mara as Nancy, and it was absolutely abysmal.
Now, David Leslie Johnson is writing the script for a new reboot of the Elm Street story. Johnson previously wrote the highly entertaining Orphan, as well as the less entertaining Red Riding Hood and Wrath Of The Titans. He’s also penning the recently announced new Dungeons And Dragons movie, and is doing rewrites on James Wan’s The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist.
We’re not averse to a return to Elm Street, especially given the fact that new Jason and Halloween movies are on the way, but the idea of another remake doesn’t exactly fill us with happy thoughts. Bayer’s Nightmare redo was one of the worst horror remakes to have come down the line, so it couldn’t actually be worse than that…could it?
You can buy A Nightmare On Elm Street 1-7 on Blu-ray for £19.99 at Amazon.co.uk. Keep up with the latest horror news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
