Kevin Smith making new horror film: Tusk

The Red State filmmaker returns to horror with a new film shooting in September

Kevin SmithKevin Smith (Clerks, Red State) has announced that he has a new film lined up, and it’s a return to the horror genre: Tusk.

The writer/director and nerd culture figurehead took to Twitter to reveal that he’s in pre-production on Tusk, and will start shooting in September. Arrow in the Head reports that Smith described the film as “a little sister to Red State, but with no politics, no religion whatsoever, but it’s just as unsettling,” and that it’s like a “cuddly version of The Human Centipede.”

The film is reportedly based on the true story of a man who was lost at sea with nothing but a walrus for company. When he returns home, he advertises for a roommate with the stipulation that the applicant would have to wear a walrus costume every day for two hours. From there things get increasingly “f***ed up.”

You can buy Red State on DVD for £3 at Amazon.co.uk.
