Speaking to The Telegraph, Harry Potter producer David Heyman offered an update on the first film in the Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them trilogy, which marks JK Rowling’s debut as a screenwriter.
“Jo [Rowling] has written a wonderful script. It’s early stages. David Yates is directing and we start filming next year. I’m just really excited about it.”
Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is based on Rowling’s 2001 in-universe textbook to the creatures of the Wizarding World, so the big question is just what sort of movie this will be.
A smaller question is perhaps that with 80% of the book’s profits being given to Comic Relief for charity work, will anything similar be happening with the film?
