Universal Pictures will be overseeing a remake of the genre classic Videodrome, according to Variety.
The studio is looking to build on the film’s primary concept, but is reportedly also introducing up-to-date concepts such as nano technology into a bigger sci-fi thriller with a wider scope.
No director has been attached to the project but it will be scripted by Ehren Kruger and produced by Daniel Bobker. As for original helmer, David Cronenberg, he is as of yet not a part of this project. The rights to Videodrome were obtained from Canadian distributor René Malo, who has been appointed executive producer on the film.
