So, they’re remaking The Craft. Sony has announced that it’s remaking the 1996 high school horror movie about a teenager who falls in with a gang of witches.
While we obviously love The Craft and keep a special place in our hearts for it, we do like the choice of filmmaker.
THR reports that Leigh Janiak has been chosen to direct the remake. Janiak made a very, very strong impression with her excellent horror debut Honeymoon, which starred Rose Leslie and Harry Treadaway, and which we thought was very good indeed. She’ll write the script with her Honeymoon co-director Phil Graziadei. You can read our interview with Janiak about Honeymoon here.
The original starred Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell, Rachel True, Skeet Ulrich, Christine Taylor and Breckin Meyer. And if the remake is terrible, we’ll always have the brilliance of Balk.
You can buy The Craft on DVD for £3.99 at Amazon.co.uk and keep up with the latest horror news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
