A vampire and former mermaid could be taking over CBS’s up-coming series Supergirl, as The Wrap reports Claire Holt is in talks to play the title role.
Holt made her TV debut in 2006 as teenager-turned-mermaid Emma Gilbert in Nickelodeon’s H20: Just Add Water. More recently, she has starred as fan-favourite Rebekah Mikaelson in both The Vampire Diaries and spin-off series The Originals.

Based on the characters from DC Comics, Supergirl will follow Kara Zor-El. Born on the planet Krypton, Kara escaped amid its destruction years ago. And since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
