Summit Entertainment sees Red

Bruce Willis to star in Summit Entertainment’s adaptation of DC Comics’ Red.

Picture 1Summit Entertainment is moving forward with its adaptation of DC Comics’ Red, by scheduling the film for a 22 October 2010 release date. As reported by Variety, the film is set to star Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian are producing it, while DC’s Gregory Noveck will act as executive producer. Robert Schwentke’s will direct the feature, working from a script written by brothers Erich and Jon Hoeber.

Based on the popular WildStorm/DC comic series, Red follows a former CIA agent who finds himself forced out of retirement by a relentless and high-tech assassin. Warren Ellis originally created the series with illustrations by Cully Hamner.

With this release date in sight, the only competition Summit faces at this time is from Saw VII, which is scheduled to hit on the same weekend as Red. SciFiNow will bring you more on this release in the new year.
