pic_morpheusLaurence Fishburne has joined the cast of Predators, according to a report from Sci-Fi Wire.

The 48-year-old genre veteran, who has appeared in films such as The Matrix trilogy, Event Horizon, and A Nightmare On Elm Street III, will take on the role of Noland. From their set visit, Sci-Fi Wire compares the character to Yoda, saying that he has survived for a long time on the Predator planet thanks to his “Zen-like abilities”.

Fishburne joins a cast that includes Danny Trejo, Adrien Brody, Walton Goggins and Topher Grace. The film is being directed by Nimrod Antal, and produced by Robert Rodriguez. Set on the Predator planet, it follows a group of people selected as challenging prey and dumped in the middle of the jungle, fighting for survival against their relentless tormentors. Shot in Hawaii, the film is now being completed at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker studios in Austin, Texas.
