After losing Tom Hardy and getting turned down by Jake Gyllenhaal, David Ayer has finally found a Rick Flag for his Suicide Squad movie.

The Wrap reports that Joel Kinnaman is in negotiations to join Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto and Cara Delevigne in the film. Kinnaman is still best known for his sterling work as Detective Holder in the US version of The Killing, and he also starred as Alex Murphy in the recent Robocop remake. He’ll next be seen as Liam Neeson’s son who Liam Neeson has to kill a lot of people to protect in Run All Night, and he’ll star alongside Hardy in Child 44.

The site also notes that negotiations with Viola Davis to play Amanda Waller are ongoing, as are talks with Jesse Eisenberg to reprise his role as Lex Luthor.

Suicide Squad is set for release in cinemas 5 August 2016. For more on the comics that have inspired the movie, pick up our 100 All-Time Greatest Comics bookazine now!
