Summit Entertainment has announced David Slade to be the director of the Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
Summit’s president of production, Erik Feig, released this statement regarding the decision: “Stephenie Meyer’s Eclipse is a muscular, rich, vivid book and we at Summit looked long and hard for a director who could do it justice. We believe we have found that talent in David Slade, a director who has been able to create complex, visually arresting worlds.” Making his name with Hard Candy and following this up with 30 Days Of Night, Slade has proved himself sufficient enough to helm this third entry in the vampire franchise.
Rumours surrounding who would direct the adaptation had previously tapped Drew Barrymore and Juan Antonio Bayona for the role, before Summit made its official announcement. New Moon is hitting cinemas in November and will be followed by Eclipse in the summer of 2010.
