Good news Outlander fans! We might be smack bang in the middle of a drought-lander right now, knowing that the next series will be its last, but we will be having more Outlander action with prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood and its main cast have been announced.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood will be an original series from Outlander executive producers Matthew B. Roberts, Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis. Filming began on 22 January this year in Scotland and according to Outlander author, Diana Gabaldon, she’s “liking everything [she’s] seeing with Episode 101.”
The prequel series will comprise 10-episodes and will centre on the lives and relationship of Jamie Fraser’s parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie played by Jamie Roy and Harriet Slater.
They will be joined by Hermione Cornfield and Jeremy Irvine, who will play Claire’s parents, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp.
“Blood of My Blood is, at its heart, a love story,” said showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts last year when the spin-off series was announced. “It will explore what lengths a person will go to find love in a time when love is considered a luxury, and when marriages are made strategically, often for political or financial gain.
“The title is a nod to Jamie Fraser’s marriage vow to Claire and there will be several names and faces that ‘Outlander’ fans will know and recognize. Jamie and Claire’s TV story may be coming to an end with Season Eight, but Diana is continuing on with their literary journey in her wonderful book series and is working diligently on Book Ten. With Jamie and Claire, and now Brian and Ellen, there is still so much more to come in the ‘Outlander’ universe, and we cannot wait to continue sharing these stories with our dedicated fans.”
Outlander: Blood of My Blood will be released on Lionsgate+. The release date is TBC.
