Just in time for the end of the first week back at Hogwarts, Pottermore is bringing us three more Harry Potter books, entitled Pottermore Presents, on 6 September. Whaaaaat?
Okay, technically they will be short stories, and technically they will only be available to buy in eBook format, but still! Better than nothing! They will each feature extracts and titbits from the Pottermore site, as well as brand new original writing from JK Rowling herself.
The first story is called Hogwarts: An Incomplete And Unreliable Guide, and will give us even more (and probably completely reliable) insight into the wizarding school. We’ll get details about everything from the Hogwarts ghosts to the Sorting Hat.
The second is called Short Stories From Hogwarts Of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists, which according to Pottermore will explore the “darker roots of the wizarding world,” including the troubles that faced the Ministry Of Magic and the horrors of Azkaban prison. Plus, there will be an entirely new piece from Rowling about ex-potions master Horace Slughorn.
The last book is Short Stories From Hogwarts Of Heroism, Hardship And Dangerous Hobbies. Probably the most exciting of them all (for us, at least), it brings us stories and details surrounding some of Hogwarts’ most intriguing members of staff, including Care of Magical Creatures teacher Silvanus Kettleburn and HBIC Minerva McGonagall.
Also, the covers are gorgeous, and were designed by the amazing Potter film designing duo Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima, also known as MinaLima.
Hot damn.
This news comes just a few weeks after Rowling said that the Harry Potter And The Cursed Child stage play/script would be the last Potter story, so we obviously can’t trust anything she says about wrapping it up from now on. She’s still our queen, though.
The Pottermore Presents collection will be available from Pottermore and other digital eBook retailers around the world in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish from 6 September. Get all the latest fantasy news with every issue of SciFiNow.
