According to Variety, Andrés Muschietti, director of the Guillermo del Toro-approved horror flick Mama, is in talks to take over The Mummy reboot from Underworld and Total Recall director Len Wiseman, who opted out in August 2013.

The Mummy is being developed  at Universal Pictures by producers Sean Daniel and Star Trek duo Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, with a script by Prometheus‘ Jon Spaihts

I don’t want to make jokes about Muschietti having a Oedipal Complex, but that’s a lot of films about his mother he’s on now…

The original 1932 Universal horror movie The Mummy is available on Blu-ray now from Amazon.co.uk, priced at £10.
