Leatherface first trailer witnesses the birth of a monster

The gory first red-band trailer for Maury and Bustillo’s Leatherface revs up

The first trailer for Texas Chain Saw Massacre prequel Leatherface has arrived, finally giving us our first proper look at the new film from Inside and Livide directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo.

It’s a moody red-band trailer with a creepy song, atmospheric shots and lots of gore, but it’s nice to see Lili Taylor as Verna Sawyer, presumably providing some motherly love for the boy who ends up strapping on a mask made of human skin and attacking people with a chainsaw.

Here’s the plot synopsis:

“Prequel about teenage Leatherface who escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates, kidnaps a young nurse and takes her on a road trip from hell. Along the way, they are pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge, one of these teens is destined for tragedy and horrors that will destroy his mind, molding him into the monster we now call Leatherface.”

The film stars Stephen Dorff as a vengeance-driven Sheriff, as well as Finn Jones, Jessica Madsen, Nicole Andrews, Sam Strike, Julian Kostov, Vanessa Grasse and Sam Coleman.

Leatherface will play at Horror Channel FrightFest on 25 August and will be released in the US on 20 October. Keep up with the latest horror news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
