While we’ve had a few slight hints from director JA Bayone and producer/writer Colin Trevorrow about the pending sequel to Jurassic World and the direction of the storyline, there hasn’t been a massive amount of concrete news. Today, we have a little bit of an update to reveal, as the sequel has scored another new casting addition in the form of the impeccably named Justice Smith.
Having gained plaudits for his role as resourceful teen Ezekiel ‘Zeke’ Figuero in Netflix’s hard-hitting musical drama The Get Down, Smith represents another solid casting addition off the back of this latest Netflix success story. There’s no word yet on exactly who he’s playing, but it’s nice to have him on board nonetheless.
Smith joins a cast that already includes the returning Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, in addition to series newcomers Toby Jones and Rafe Spall. JA Bayona will direct from a script penned by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, with Belén Atienza, Patrick Crowley and Frank Marshall attached as producers, and Trevorrow also executive producing with Steven Spielberg and Thomas Tull.
Jurassic World 2 will be released in cinemas on 8 June 2018. For all the latest movie news, pick up the new issue of SciFiNow.
