Sony gets inFAMOUS

The popular PlayStation 3 game sets to light up the big screen.

42184_infamous_04Producers Avi and Ari Arad have signed a deal with Sony Pictures to adapt inFAMOUS into a movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Pre-production on this project is already underway and Sheldon Turner, the writer of The Longest Yard and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, will be adapting Sucker Punch Productions’ game for the big screen. In addition to this, it has previously been announced that he is developing the screenplay for X-Men Origins: Magneto.

“What excited me most about the game was it was the first of which I’ve come across that had a big idea and a character arc,” Turner said. “It is, I believe, the future of gaming. The game, while big and fun, is at its core a love ballad to the underachiever, which is what our hero, Cole McGrath, is.”

inFAMOUS was released in May of this year as a PlayStation 3 exclusive. It followed a sandbox style of gameplay and put players in the shoes of McGrath, a bike messenger bestowed with some electrifying skills. At this time no release date has been scheduled for this production.
