Goosebumps sequel gets a release date from Sony

Find out when you can watch the no doubt wonderful Goosebumps sequel

There are very few films as spooky, fun and pure as Sony’s 2015 romp Goosebumps starring Jack Black. If you turned your nose up at the concept or just missed it in the cinema completely, go and watch it now. It’s wonderful. We’re big fans, which is why we were so happy when a sequel was announced. In all honesty, we’d gladly pay to watch a new Goosebumps instalment every year for the rest of our lives.

This week, the filmmakers got around to announcing the release date for the Goosebumps sequel (which we presume is going to be called Goosebumps 2 but we can’t be sure).

According to Exhibitor Relations’ Twitter page, the film will be hit cinemas on 26 January 2018 – just over a year away.

Don’t let the January release date put you off. We can’t imagine a universe in which a Goosebumps film starring Jack Black could possibly be anything less than delightful.

The original Goosebumps stars Jack Black (if you didn’t get that already) as real life author RL Stine who finds himself in the supernatural firing line after the creatures from his books start to come to life and attempt to take over his hometown.

The film also stars Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, Ryan Lee, Amy Ryan, Ken Marino, Timothy Simons, Amanda Lund and Jillian Bell. It was directed by Rob Letterman and written by Darren Lemke.

Goosebumps 2 is in cinemas from 26 January 2018. Get all the latest fantasy news with every issue of SciFiNow.
