As much as we like the look of Paul Feig’s upcoming Ghostbusters movie, it’s a shame that it looks like most of the original cast won’t be returning. However, this looks set to change, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that none other than Dr Peter Venkman himself, Bill Murray, will star in the new film.
Despite being pretty open and frank about his unwillingness to be involved with any future instalments in the franchise, it looks like he’s on board, and we couldn’t be happier. It hasn’t been confirmed exactly in what capacity he’ll be involved (or indeed, whether he’s in front of or behind the camera), but we’re hoping for a reunion of sorts with Dan Aykroyd’s Raymond Stantz, who has also been confirmed as a returnee.
In addition to the titular quartet – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones – the new Ghostbusters movie will also star Chris Hemsworth, Cecily Strong, Michael K Williams, Andy Garcia, Matt Walsh and more.
Ghostbusters will be released in cinemas on 15 July 2016. For more on the biggest movies, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
