Geostorm trailer puts the fun in massive global catastrophe

Gerard Butler leads the star-studded cast of action-packed disaster SF Geostorm

The new trailer for Dean Devlin’s global catastrophic event movie Geostorm has arrived and this one actually makes it look like it’s going to be a lot of fun, as well as offering another opportunity to watch the world’s landmarks being destroyed by horrifying weather conditions. They really had us on board as soon as they established that Gerard Butler is going to and from space on a regular basis, tbh.

Devlin is making his feature directing debut after years of producing, most notably collaborating with Roland Emmerich on his disaster movies like Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow, which means this film makes a lot of sense. Danny Cannon (Judge Dredd) was brought on to direct reshoots last year.

The strong cast includes Butler, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Andy Garcia, Alexandra Maria Lara, Daniel Wu, Adepero Oduye, Amr Waked, Robert Sheehan, Eugenio Derbez and Ed Harris.

“After an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatened the planet, the world’s leaders came together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. But now, something has gone wrong—the system built to protect the Earth is attacking it, and it’s a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything…and everyone along with it.”

Geostorm is released on 20 October. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
