Duncan Jones’ Mute casts two excellent leads

The long in the making Mute from Duncan Jones has announced its 2 stars

Having won critical acclaim for Moon and Source Code, and having Warcraft coming up on the horizon, every move that Duncan Jones makes seems to be an exciting one. Now, we have even more news as to where his career path will take him next: Mute, his long-in-the-making feature film project, not only has a synopsis; it also has its 2 main stars confirmed: Paul Rudd and Alexander Skarsgard.

According to Deadline, Mute takes place 40 years in the future in Berlin, a city that has since become a honeypot of East and West influences. The focal point is mute bartender Leo Beiler (Skarsgard), who is on the hunt for his missing wife. As his search takes him deeper into the city’s underworld, he encounters two oddball surgeons (one of which is played by Rudd), who will prove to either be a clue to her whereabouts, or a danger to him.

It’s clearly a passion project for Jones – who claims that this has been in the making for 12 years – and with its intriguing blend of sci-fi and more classical influences (Casablanca, anyone?), it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

A release date for Mute is yet to be announced. For more news on the biggest movies, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
