Domhnall Gleeson will play General Hux in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Among the little nuggets of news finding their way out of San Diego Comic-Con, we have another snippet that should (by ‘should’, we of course mean ‘will definitely’) interest fans of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as more information has been revealed about Domhnall Gleeson’s character. Like his name, for example.

For a start, he is called General Hux, and will be an officer of the Empire replacements, the First Order. Speaking at SDCC’s Force Awakens panel, Gleeson said of his character, “I am evil!”, which would appear to peg rumours of him being Luke Skywalker’s son to rest, although to be honest we’re not ruling anything out.

Other pieces of news included (finally) official confirmation that Adam Driver and Gwendoline Christie would be playing adversaries Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma respectively. Every man and his dog knew that already, but still: official confirmation.

One interesting revelation, however, was that the First Order HQ seen in the second trailer is known as ‘Starkiller Base’ (a nod to Luke’s original name in the first ever Star Wars script). Before the weekend’s out we’re sure there’ll be even more news, which we’ll post here as we hear it!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released in cinemas on 18 December. For more of the biggest movie news, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
