Doctor Who: Trailer released for 60th anniversary special

Neil Patrick Harris and Jemma Redgrave feature in the brand new trailer for the Doctor Who 60th anniversary special.

The Doctor will be wearing a face he hasn’t used for quite some time as David Tennant is set to play our favourite Time Lord once again in three special episodes for the series 60th anniversary, which will be shown this November.

Tennant will be joined by another familiar face as Catherine Tate rejoins the series for the special episodes, playing companion Donna Noble.

The three episodes will be entitled ‘The Star Beast’, ‘Wild Blue Yonder’ and ‘The Giggle’, as was revealed in the specials’ trailer.

The brand new trailer features Neil Patrick Harris, revealing that he will play the Toymaker, an all-powerful enemy last seen in 1966. The trailer also showed that UNIT is back with a bang! Jemma Redgrave reprises her iconic role as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart.

“This is just the start, as the fever starts to burn,” says showrunner Russell T Davies. “We’re heading for a November full of Doctor Who surprises, for fans and new viewers alike. Stay alert!”

Doctor Who returns in November 2023 with three special episodes with David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor to coincide with the 60th anniversary. Ncuti Gatwa’s first episode as the Fifteenth Doctor will air over the festive period, alongside his new companion, Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson.

Doctor Who will premiere exclusively on the BBC for the UK and Ireland. Disney+ will be the exclusive home for new seasons of Doctor Who outside of the UK and Ireland.
