Cabin In The Woods delayed until 2011

Joss Whedon’s horror flick pushed back for 3D conversion.

cabin-in-the-woodsCabin In The Woods, the co-written horror project from Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard, has been delayed until 11 January 2011.

The film is not reportedly being delayed for reshoots or tweaks, with the feedback apparently being quite good so far, but rather the studio is initiating a conversion process that would see the film transformed into a 3D feature as opposed to a straight 2D horror film.

The move follows a string of recent 3D outings in cinema, spearheaded in many ways by the hype surrounding James Cameron’s Avatar. Other horror films to receive the treatment include My Bloody Valentine and The Final Destination. Fans of Whedon’s work, and there are many, will likely be disappointed by this announcement, but given the rise of 3D, it was more or less inevitable that some projects would have to endure this before release.
