Blair Witch TV spots need to get the hell out of the woods

Stoke the fires of your Blair Witch excitement with two action-packed TV spots

Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett’s sneakily secret Blair Witch Project sequel Blair Witch is just over a week away, and two new TV spots have arrived to remind you why you need to be excited.

The new chapter in the Blair Witch saga was filmed by Wingard and Barrett (the duo behind A Horrible Way To Die, You’re Next and The Guest) as The Woods, before revealing itself to be a sequel to Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez’s 1999 found footage classic.

“A group of college students venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of James’ sister who many believe is connected to the legend of the Blair Witch. At first the group is hopeful, especially when a pair of locals offer to act as guides through the dark and winding woods, but as the endless night wears on, the group is visited by a menacing presence. Slowly, they begin to realize the legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.”

Blair Witch stars James Allen McCune (Shameless, The Walking Dead), Callie Hernandez (the upcoming La La Land and Alien: Covenant), Brandon Scott (Masters Of Sex, Wreck-It Ralph), Valorie Curry (The Following, House Of Lies), Corbin Reid (Kingdom), and Wes Robinson (Roadies).

There’s also the recent news that the makers of the original film are trying to get a longer director’s cut of The Blair Witch Project together, with a petition that you can sign here. We’d definitely be excited to see it, although the film does move along at a good brisk pace and we’d worry about pacing if it were much longer…Still, obviously we want to see it.

Blair Witch is in cinemas on 16 September 2016. Get all the latest horror news with every issue of SciFiNow.
