Two horror films that we’ve been keeping an eye on have been pulled from the winter release schedule with no sign of a new release date.
Bloody Disgusting reports that Amityville: The Awakening and Demonic have been pulled from their November and January release dates respectively by The Weinstein Company.
The new Amityville movie comes from Maniac director Franck Khalfoun, and stars the great Jennifer Jason Leigh, as well as Shameless‘ Cameron Monaghan, Bella Thorne and Kurtwood Smith.
“Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.”
With a good cast and a promising director, there was certainly a reason to get a little excited about the Blumhouse-produced horror which was set for a 2 January 2015 release.
Demonic is produced by James Wan, the director of Insidious and Saw, and boasts an impressive cast including Maria Bello, Frank Grillo, Cody Horn (Magic Mike), Scott Mechlowicz (Mean Creek) and Dustin Milligan (Slither). “A police officer and a psychologist investigate the deaths of five people who were killed while trying to summon ghosts.” It was due for release in December this year.
Fingers crossed that both these films get a release date sooner rather than later.
