Mad Men star Jon Hamm will appear in the Christmas special of Charlie Brooker’s anthology TV series Black Mirror, reports Deadline.
Hamm, who is best known for playing Don Draper in AMC’s Mad Men, will star alongside Rafe Spall (Shaun Of The Dead, Prometheus) and Oona Chaplin (Game Of Thrones) in the one-off episode, entitled ‘Yuletide’.
Hamm has admitted to being a “massive fan of the show since its inception. Its dark humor and intelligent observation of our society and values hooked me deeply as a viewer and I’m honored that Charlie and the rest of the creative team have asked me to participate in wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.”
Brooker is similarly pleased to have him, Spall and Chaplin aboard, saying “I’m revoltingly happy that Jon, Rafe and Oona are participating in the horrible pageant that is Black Mirror. As far as I’m concerned their presence is a huge Christmas present that’s arrived early.”
Black Mirror has thus far reveived mainly positive reviews, with the 2011 episode ‘The Entire History Of You’ being optioned for a film adaptation by Iron Man and Avengers Assemble star Robert Downey Jr’s production company, Team Downey.
Black Mirror: Yuletide will air on Channel 4 in the UK sometime in December. For more on the latest sci-fi, fantasy and horror on TV, pick up the new issue of SciFiNow.
