Speaking to Variety, Robert Downey Jr confirmed that he’s only down for Avengers: Age Of Ultron and an Avengers threequel, with no plans for a continuation of his solo franchise.
“There isn’t one in the pipe,” Downey said. “No, there’s no plan for a fourth Iron Man.”
Which makes the rumours about Doctor Strange being groomed for an Iron Man-style role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe a lot more credible – trading one mustachioed egotist for another.
Asked who he would pick to replace him in the armour, Downey Jr replied:
“I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I’m casting director for Marvel.”
The Avengers: Age of Ultron hits cinemas on the 30 April 2015, you can find Avengers Assemble on blu-ray from Amazon.co.uk. Find out more about the comic inspiration with Uncanny Comics.
