So far the rumours swirling around Marvel’s Doctor Strange have stubbornly focused on the big guns – as well as a bunch of unabashed fan choices – but this latest is perhaps the coolest one yet.

According to This Is Infamous, Boardwalk Empire, American Hustle and Outlander star Jack Huston (who was originally in the running to play Guardians Of The Galaxy‘s Star-Lord) is being courted by Marvel as strong contender for the role of Stephen Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme.

Huston is next set to brush up against the supernatural in 2015’s Pride And Prejudice And Zombies, and it’s a nice touch that he could be joining his Boardwalk Empire co-star Charlie Cox in the Marvel U, as the latter is fronting Netflix’s Daredevil.

Huston is a great choice – not only does he have real presence and the acting chops for the emotionally wounded Strange, but he’s got enough of an unpredictable outsider edge to make the role feel fresh and exciting.
