SDCC 2020: Farscape continued?

The cast of Nineties TV show Farscape gathered together for this year’s San Diego Comic Con to reminisce on the series and discuss its future…

Farscape

Is Farscape coming back? We certainly hope so and that’s just one of the topics discussed at this year’s Comic Con @ Home when the cast got together.

Released all the way back in March 1999, Farscape was a surprising success and followed the adventures of astronaut John Crichton who, after accidentally falling into a wormhole, gets transported into deep space and finds himself on a living ship with a band of criminals. Conceived by Rockne S. O’Bannon and with exceptional makeup and prosthetics from The Jim Henson Company, Farscape ran for four seasons and a three-hour miniseries (after fans protested that the fourth season’s cliffhanger be resolved).

Now, all episodes of the series is showing on Amazon Prime for a whole new audience, and that’s not all – it was reported at last year’s San Diego Comic Con that O’Bannon and Brian Henson were looking to continue the series.

Moderated by Kirk Thatcher (Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge), this year’s virtual Comic Con included cast members Gigi Edgley (who played Chiana), Rebecca Riggs (Commandant Grayza), David Franklin (Lieutenant Braca), Lani Tupu (Captain Crais), and Paul Goddard (Starkwho, along with writer Ricky Manning, looked back on making the series and discussed their ideas for Farscape’s future.

The panel also focussed on what the cast and writers are up to these days and how fans can keep in touch with them and the show’s progress.

Until we hear more about a new series of Farscape, why not re-live the original in all its bonkers glory on Amazon Prime.
