Based on Disney Hyperion’s best-selling book series by award-winning author Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson and the Olympians tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With help from his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.
Riordan worked closely with the creative team and showrunners Jon Steinberg (Black Sails) and Dan Shotz (The Old Man) to bring his books to life and deliver a series that stays true to his vision for these heroic characters that millions of book fans know and love. The first two episodes are written by Rick Riordan and Jon Steinberg and directed by James Bobin (Dora and the Lost City of Gold).
The epic eight-episode series stars Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood and Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase. It also features numerous guest stars including Lin-Manuel Miranda (His Dark Materials), Megan Mullally (Will And Grace), Toby Stephens (Lost In Space), Virginia Kull (NOS4A2), Jason Mantzoukas (Invincible), Jay Duplass (The Chair), Glynn Turman (Fargo), the late Lance Reddick (Resident Evil), Adam Copeland (Vikings), Charlie Bushnell (Diary Of A Future President), Dior Goodjohn (Are You Afraid of the Dark?), Jessica Parker Kennedy (The Flash), Olivea Morton (Angel), Suzanne Cryer (All Rise), Timm Sharp (On The Verge), Timothy Omundson (This is Us).
Percy Jackson and the Olympians debuts on 20 December on Disney+ with a two-episode premiere, followed by new episodes weekly.
