Warhammer 40k to hit the small screen

Popular tabletop gaming property will be adapted into a DVD film.

Picture 1Long-running rumours of a film involving the Space Marines from Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 universe have finally been confirmed, in an announcement by Games Workshop and Codex Pictures.

Ultramarines, which will run for 70 minutes and be released direct-to-DVD, will use CGI animation as well as other “state-of-the-art” techniques, according to the joint statement. Further details on plot, casting, and other areas are non-existent at the moment, but fans can join the update list at http://www.ultramarinesthemovie.com.

Codex Pictures is a London based film production company whose previous credits include the Lego Bionicle trilogy. “It’s taken a lot of research and development to get to this stage,” said a spokesperson for Codex. “And it’s such an exciting challenge to be able to bring the depth and power of the Warhammer 40,000 universe to a brand new medium.”
