Thor, the upcoming adaptation of the Marvel comic, has been moved to occupy the release date previously occupied by Spider-Man 4.
The superhero film, directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Chris Hemsworth in the title role, will now be released on the summer tentpole slot of 5 May 2011. The fourth instalment of the popular Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise has also received a release date of 20 May 2011. The film was previously listed as TBA.
As SciFiNow reported yesterday, Spider-Man 4 has hit difficulties with its production over alleged differences regarding the script, between director Sam Raimi and the studio. No new date has yet been set for the film, which is now expected to release several months later at least in order to accomodate a new screenplay draft from Spider-Man 2 and 3 scribe Alvin Sargent.
