According to Deadline, former writer, producer and showrunner on The Walking Dead, Glen Mazzara has been approached by Warner Bros to write their prequel to Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining.

The prequel will be based on Stephen King’s original prologue, ‘Before The Play’, which was cut from the book.

King is fairly hostile to the idea of a prequel, so it’ll be interesting to see what sort of response Mazzara’s involvement gets, given he replaced King’s good friend Frank Darabont as Walking Dead showrunner causing the author to pull out of potentially writing an episode.
