The Predator has cut Edward James Olmos completely

Edward James Olmos has been cut out of The Predator for time reasons

With a little over a month to go until the release of The Predator, some rather unsavoury news has come to light: Edward James Olmos (Blade RunnerBattlestar Galactica) has been cut out of the film completely.

“It was too long so my character, they had to take me out,” Olmos told SlashFilm. “They were like half an hour, 3/4 of an hour too long. So I understand why.”

Olmos was set to play a four-star general, but the character sounds as though he wasn’t that relevant to the story. The reasoning behind the Olmos-cut is fair and we’re glad he’s okay with it, but still.

You can read the synopsis for The Predator here:

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
The Predator stars Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey and Yvonne Strahovski. Shane Black is directing from a screenplay by Black and Fred Dekker.
