The Flash Season 5 adds Kiana Madeira as Spin

The Flash has added Kiana Madeira as a female version of Spin for Season 5

The CW’s The Flash is set to bring in comic book character Spin for Season 5, but with a fun twist: originally male in the DC comics, the TV version of the character will be female, and played by Kiana Madeira.

According to DeadlineThe Flash‘s version of Spin, also known as Spencer Young, is a “young aspiring social media influencer who seizes the opportunity to make herself famous when she discovers there is a new hero in Central City.”

Madeira, who is best known for playing Angel in Sacred Lies as well as appearing in smaller roles in genre shows like Dark Matter and Wynonna Earp, will debut as Spencer Young/Spin in episode 5.04, and will act as a recurring character for the season.

For those unfamiliar with the character, the New Earth version of Spin debuted in Flash Vol 2 #238 in May 2008 as Mr Auerbach, the son of a media mogul, who was eventually put in charge of KN News, and had a hand in determining much of the content the network covered.

After kidnapping Edwar Martinez, a man with the ability to sense fears in others and make them a reality, Auerbach held him captive in the KN News basement to hook him up to machines and force him to watch news coverage in order to channel and direct Martinez’s ability.

The Flash Season 5 stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon/Vibe, Tom Cavanagh as Harrison ‘Sherloque’ Wells, Jesse L Martin as Joe West, Danielle Nicolet as Cecile Horton, Hartley Swayer as Ralph Dibny/Elongated Man, Jessica Parker Kennedy as Nora West-Allen/XS and Chris Klein as Cicada.

The show is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and showrunner Todd Helbing. It’s produced by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros Television.
