The Exorcist Season 2 casts Deadpool star as series regular

The Exorcist casts a Deadpool star as a series regular alongside John Cho

The cast of The Exorcist Season 2 is getting bigger and better every day. Earlier this week, it was announced that Star Trek and Harold & Kumar‘s John Cho would be joining the ensemble as former child psychologist Andrew Kim.

Now the show has added Brianna Hildebrand, who played Negasonic Teenage Warhead in last year’s superhero hit Deadpool, as a series regular.

Hildebrand will play Verity, one of the foster children being cared for by Cho’s psychologist. Deadline says of the character: “Being close to 18 years old, her time in the house is coming to an end. Her tough exterior makes it seem as if she doesn’t care, when in reality, she would die for her siblings and Andrew.”

She’s also expected to join the pre-existing The Exorcist cast next week on the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel.

Season 2 is set to pick up with Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) and Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) leaving Chicago and heading out in search of evil. The pair meet Andrew Kim (John Cho), a former child psychologist who runs a group home for five at-risk foster children on a secluded private island off the coast of Seattle. When one of the children Andrew cares for is targeted by a powerful force, Tomas and Marcus head west to help. Meanwhile, Father Bennett (Kurt Egyiawan) is at the Vatican while he attempts to weed out those who have turned against God.

The Exorcist was created by Jeremy Slater, and Slater, Sean Crouch, Rupert Wyatt, Roy Lee, James Robinson, David Robinson and Barbara Wall serve as executive producers.

The Exorcist Season 2 is set to premiere on 29 September on Fox in the US. Get all the latest horror news with every issue of SciFiNow.
