The latest update of John Wyndham’s classic The Day Of The Triffids has signed Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire director Mike Newell.
Deadline reports that Newell (Four Weddings And A Funeral, Donnie Brasco) will direct from the screenplay by Luther’s Neil Cross, who genre fans will know wrote Doctor Who episodes ‘The Rings of Akhaten’ and ‘Hide’. The film is being developed by Ghost House Pictures.
“After a comet shower blinds most of the world’s population, those with sight must battle alien plants, known as triffids, bent on destroying mankind.”
