Supergirl casts Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor

Pretty In Pink’s Jon Cryer will play Lex Luthor in Supergirl Season 4

Supergirl is about to take on one of DC Comics’ greatest villains: Season 4 will see Kara go head to head with none other than Lex Luthor, as played by Jon Cryer.

Cryer is best known for his series regular role in Two And A Half Men and starring as Duckie in John Hughes-written 1986 Brat-pack classic Pretty In Pink, but he also appeared as Lex Luthor’s nephew Lenny in 1987’s Superman IV: The Quest For Peace.

In a statement, Supergirl executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller said: “We are enormous fans of Jon Cryer, and he was instantly our dream actor to play the iconic role of Lex Luthor. Jon is a super-talent, and the fact that he played Lenny Luthor in Superman IV brings an added layer of legacy to his casting. We’re beyond thrilled to welcome Jon to the Supergirl family.”

Luthor is set to arrive in National City in Season 4’s fifteenth episode, which will air in 2019.

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers/Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winn Schott, Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, Jesse Rath as Brainiac 5 and David Harewood as Hank Henshaw/J’onn J’onnz. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter executive produce alongside Rovner and Queller.

Supergirl Season 4 is currently airing on Mondays at 8pm on Sky One. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
