Stephen King’s Castle Rock casts Melanie Lynskey in lead role

The brilliant Melanie Lynskey joins Andre Holland, Sissy Spacek and Jane Levy in Castle Rock

We are huge fans of Melanie Lynskey (I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore, Togetherness, Heavenly Creatures), so it’s very exciting to hear that she has joined the cast of mysterious Stephen King TV series Castle Rock.

TVLine reports that Lynskey has landed the female lead, playing “Molly Strand, a woman with a rare medical condition who’s barely scraping by as a real estate agent in a town where every third property is the site of someone’s worst nightmare.”

She joins a strong cast that includes Moonlight‘s Andre Holland, Don’t Breathe‘s Jane Levy (who also appeared in IDFAHITWA), and the great Sissy Spacek. Like Spacek, Lynskey has a Stephen King connection (although it’s not quite as illustrious as being goddam Carrie), having appeared in the author’s 2002 haunted house miniseries Rose Red.

Castle Rock, which comes from Manhattan duo Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason, “combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland.”

It’s also described as “a first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.”

Can we just have it now, please?
