Star Trek 3: First new cast member beamed aboard

Kingsman breakout star cast in Justin Lin’s Star Trek threequel

It’s a given that the Star Trek suits seem to take a while putting together the cast in between films, but the as-yet-untitled Star Trek threequel seems to be kicking off things (relatively) sooner, with the first new cast member being announced, according to Deadline.

The first newbie aboard the good ship Enterprise is Sofia Boutella, who you will probably remember as the bladed-prosthetic-limb-wearing assassin Gazelle in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service. The nature of her role hasn’t been pegged yet (we’re going to assume ‘villain’), so more news on that as we get it. She is also starring in Monsters: Dark Continent, so it looks like she could become a familiar genre face.

The rest of the film looks like business as usual, with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho and Anton Yelchin returning – along with Simon Pegg, who is also writing alongside Doug Jung, with Justin Lin directing.

Star Trek 3 will be released in cinemas on 8 July 2016. Keep up with the latest movie news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
