Sense8 is coming back next year for a two-hour special, praise be

Sense8 isn’t over yet… It’s getting a two-hour special and we’re THRILLED

Netflix went and bummed out a lot of people at the start of Pride Month this year when it confirmed that Sense8 wasn’t being renewed for Season 3.

But now it’s only gone and turned everything on its head in time for the last few days of Pride by announcing that the show is getting a two-hour special so fans can say goodbye.

The news was announced in this absolutely beautiful letter penned by co-creator, writer and director Lana Wachowski to the show’s fans, which was posted on the official Sense8 account, and we’re still crying, to be honest.

Since the show was seemingly cancelled on 1 June, fans from across the world have been causing a stir, voicing their disappointment at the horrendous decision on social media and in messages to the streaming service. Amazingly, all the effort seems to have paid off for once.

A two-hour special obviously isn’t as good as a third season of the brilliant show, but it’s better than nothing. And like Lana Wachowski says, you never know…

With all the good Sense8 has done for fans, particularly the LGBTQ+ community, it would have been a damn shame to leave it on that Season 2 cliffhanger without getting a chance to see each of the characters’ journeys through to the end that it’s getting another chance to wow.

Lana Wachowski,

Sense8 stars Brian J Smith as Will, Doona Bae as Sun, Jamie Clayton as Nomi, Max Riemelt as Wolfgang, Miguel Ángel Silvestre as Lito, Tina Desai as Kala, Toby Onwumere as Capheus, Tuppence Middleton as Riley, Daryl Hannah as Angelica, Naveen Andrews as Jonas and Terrence Mann as Whispers.

Sense8 Season 1 and 2 are available to stream in all their glory on Netflix now. Get the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
