SDCC 2020: His Dark Materials Season Two trailer and casting revealed

The trailer for the second season of His Dark Materials has been launched and new casting information has been announced.

His Dark Materials

The His Dark Materials panel at the SDCC Comic Con@Home had a few juicy gems for us!

Firstly it revealed the trailer for series two of the HBO/BBC sci-fi drama based on the Philip Pullman book series of the same name. See it here…

The panel also gave us some casting information, primarily a Fleabag reunion for Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Andrew Scott – Waller-Bridge will be playing Scott’s character, John Parry, osprey dæmon, Sayan Kötör. Further casting news includes the addition of Terence Stamp, Jade Anouka and Simone Kirby.

Based on the second book, The Subtle Knife, in Pullman’s award-winning series, the second series of the show follows Lyra Belacqua exploring a strange new land and meeting Will Parry (Amir Wilson).

The Comic Con@Home panel included executive producers Jane Tranter and Jack Thorne, as well as cast members Dafne Keen (Lyra), Ruth Wilson (Mrs. Coulter), Ariyon Bakare (Lord Boreal), Amir Wilson (Will Parry), Andrew Scott (John Parry), and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Lee Scoresby) and was moderated by Stacey Wilson Hunt.

The panel also revealed that an entire episode (featuring James McAvoy’s Lord Asriel) from Season Two was unfortunately cut due to the coronavirus pandemic shutting down production – though it was stand-alone episode doesn’t affect the plot too much luckily!
