Battlestar Galactica creator and Star Trek showrunner Ronald D Moore’s Thing-like new show, Helix, has been picked up by Syfy for a 13-episode run.

Helix is about a team of scientists investigating a mysterious disease outbreak at an Arctic research station that threatens the world, and according to Deadline shooting is due to begin later this year – skipping the pilot stage entirely.

Syfy’s head of original content Mark Stern commented, “With its well-drawn characters, taut drama and incredible production team, we couldn’t be more excited to see this intense thrill-ride of a series come to life.”

You can buy the Complete Battlestar Galactica on Blu-ray for £35.10 on Amazon.co.uk.
