Okja first trailer for Snowpiercer director’s creature feature

Tilda Swinton has made a creature in Bong Joon-ho’s Okja

We *love* Bong Joon-ho here at SciFiNow, so the news that the director of Snowpiercer and The Host was making a new creature feature was hugely exciting. Now, there’s the first teaser for the Netflix-produced international epic Okja.

Well, there’s not much revealed here, but we’re thrilled anyway. Bong Joon-ho has not made a bad, or even average, film yet, and we’ve definitely got our hopes up for Okja.

“From visionary Director Bong Joon Ho, this grand global adventure follows a friendship too big to ignore. Meet Mija, a young girl who risks everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend – a massive animal named Okja. Following her across continents, the coming-of-age comedy drama sees Mija’s horizons expand in a way one never would want for one’s children, coming up against the harsh realities of genetically modified food experimentation, globalization, eco-terrorism, and humanity’s obsession with image, brand and self-promotion.”

Okja stars Seohyun An, Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Lily Collins (The Mortal Instruments), Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire), Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), Byeon Hee-bong (The Host, Memories Of Murder), Yun Je-moon (Mother, The Good, The Bad And The Weird), Daniel Henshall (Snowtown, The Babadook), Shirley Henderson (Tale Of Tales) and Devon Bostick (The 100).

Okja will be available on Netflix on 28 June. Read our review of Snowpiercer here and keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
