Norfolk-based sci- fi fans are in for a treat early next month when a whole host of well-known science fiction characters and celebrities will be descending on the Holiday Inn Norwich-North near Norwich Airport as part of the Nor-Con Convention.
Organised by the Norwich Sci-Fi Club, stars from popular TV shows such as Doctor Who and Red Dwarf will be joining science fiction fans to celebrate everything related to science fiction, TV, film, fantasy and comics to raise money for charity.
Star names appearing on Sunday, September 2 include Colin Baker, who played the Sixth Doctor from 1984 to1986; Nicola Bryan,t who played his assistant; Robert Llewellyn, who plays Kryten in Red Dwarf, and Barry Kitson, the renowned Marvel comic illustrator.
Visitors to the convention can also browse sci-fi trade stands and interact with other favourite sci-fi TV/film characters, including the Daleks, Stormtroopers, Klingons, Predator, R2-D2 and the robot from Lost In Space.
There is even a limited offer of a free McFlurry for all those who come on the day in Costume.
Mark Dean, chairman of the Norwich Sci-Fi Club, said, “We have a fantastic line up this year and hope that our reputation for putting on a great show will help us to raise even more funds for such worthy causes.”
This is the biggest event of its kind in the county, and this year aims to raise money for the James Paget University Hospital renal ward, Suffolk Help in Multiple Sclerosis (SHIMS) and Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
