Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting Of Hill House casts Carla Gugino

The star of Watchmen and Sin City lands a lead role in The Haunting of Hill House

Mike Flanagan’s modern-day update of Shirley Jackson’s horror masterpiece The Haunting Of Hill House has cast another leading role.

Deadline reports that Carla Gugino (Watchmen, Sin City, Spy Kids) has joined the previously announced Michiel Huisman (Game Of Thrones, Orphan Black) in the 10-part Netflix series.

There are no details about her character as of yet, but it’s described as “one of the leads.” Will her role be similar to Eleanor Lance, the unstable, unreliable protagonist, or Theodora, the bohemian artist whose sexuality challenges Nell’s repressed worldview, or will it be something completely new? We’ll have to wait and see. As Deadline states, this new version “draws from the original classic ghost story while expanding on the mythology of the Crane family.”

This is the second time that Gugino and Flanagan will have worked together, as the duo recently finished their film of Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game (also for Netflix).

We cannot wait to see what Flanagan (Absentia, Oculus, Ouija: Origin Of Evil) does with such incredible material.
